Philanthropy Counsel

It is not easy to give away money! Not if you want to be effective and strategic, and use your philanthropy resources as an expression of your own personal values and legacy.

I worked for 10 years directly with families of wealth on philanthropy advising and intergenerational philanthropy. I have an additional ten-years of experience working on major gifts with generous donors. I am trained in intergenerational wealth advising from The Philanthropic Initiative, now part of the Boston Foundation, as well as the International Association of Advisors in Philanthropy, and the Stanford Philanthropy Toolkit. I can help families come together around philanthropy to do good together. I can help donors, foundations, and grant programs used best-practice, research-based strategies to answer key questions:

  • How can philanthropy be an expression of what we care most about?

  • How can philanthropy bring families together?

  • What are the dynamics that help; what are the dynamics that hinder fulfilling decision-making around philanthropy?

  • What are reasonable expectations for outcome measures, and how can you partner with your nonprofit beneficiaries?
